GKN Hydrogen and Aragea AS
sign agreement to enter and develop the Scandinavian green hydrogen market

Perfect fit - GKN Hydrogen as technology leader in metal hydride hydrogen storage and ARAGEA AS with outstanding expertise in oil and gas project business

Focus on decarbonization of Norwegian and Scandinavian infrastructure and industrial solutions

Bonn (DE) Oslo (NO), 10.11.2023

GKN Hydrogen, technology leader and manufacturer of metal hydride energy and hydrogen storage systems and ARAGEA AS, a Norwegian green tech startup sign an agreement to jointly develop the Scandinavian hydrogen market. Both companies are a good fit due to their core competencies and aim to develop and establish hydrogen storage solutions for Scandinavia.

Guido Degen, CEO GKN Hydrogen on the new partnership: "Norway has an attractive technological environment and is investing in the development of a future value chain for hydrogen. Together with ARAGEA, our goal is to offer efficient solutions that not only include hydrogen production, but also energy storage and the decarbonization of industrial infrastructure. In ARAGEA, we have found an ambitious partner with whom we want to tap into the potential of the Scandinavian market."

Tor Arne Hauge, Chairman of ARAGEA AS : "We are an ambitious start up, with outstanding expertise in the oil and gas project business. We are not only driving our own transformation, but also that of an entire region. GKN Hydrogen's hydrogen storage technology is inherently safe and can therefore be used in many applications. The discussions with GKN Hydrogen were very trusting right from the start. We realized very quickly that we complement each other very well and can make a difference."

The partnership focuses on the design, construction and service of energy and hydrogen storage applications that help commercial and industrial customers make their infrastructures and industrial facilities more CO2 neutral and therefore more sustainable. Core applications include, decentralized off-grid energy supplies in residential quarters and commercial buildings, charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, and CO2-neutral emergency power supply for hospitals, data centers and telecommunications facilities. In industry, the 100% recyclable storage units are very well suited for use as process gas storage units in energy-intensive industries such as the glass, ceramics and steel industries.
